BABY IS GROWING
Baby is growing
Baby is gaining about 20g (.7 oz) and 1 cm (1/4 in) per week. He starts to grab objects. The Baby learns to control its neck muscles in order to hold its head up. The Baby is very sensitive to voices and music. He gurgles and smiles more and more often.
Some tips from Premaman:
If you breastfeed
After several weeks of breastfeeding, your baby will have less strength to suckle. Therefore you will experience variations (increases and decreases) of milk supply.
If there is pain in the breast: if your breast is swollen, see a doctor. He or she may prescribe an anti-inflammatory drug and/or an antibiotic treatment that is compatible with breastfeeding.
If you bottle feed
After birth, your baby will consume about 5 or 6 bottles daily of 120 to 150 grams (4-5 oz) each. In general, that represents 4 meals during the day and 1 or 2 during the night.
The vaccines
Researchers have developed vaccines to protect your baby against various diseases, such as diphteria, tetanus, whooping cough (the DTP or DtaP vaccine protects against all three), and polio.

Baby is growing
The Baby now weighs an average of 5.8 kg (13 lbs). He is growing 2 to 4 cm (3/4 to 1-1/2 in.) a week to reach an average length of 60 cm (24 in.). He holds its head up better and better, and can turn it to follow an object. The Baby discovers the magic of its ten little fingers, plays with them constantly and enjoys sucking its thumb.
Some tips from Premaman:
Toys
The baby gym or play mat is a true field of adventure. With all its different colours and textures, it encourages Baby to explore.
Maternity leave will soon be over
If you are breastfeeding your child, stop the feedings gradually so that your body and your baby can get used to it. You can also pump your milk so that the person who takes care of your child will be able to feed it in your absence. After 3-4 months, your breastfeeding may continue with 2 feedings every 24 hours. Your milk production will eventually adapt to the demand.
Baby is growing
The Baby now weighs between 6 and 8 kg (13 and 18 lbs) for a size of about 68 cm (27 in.). He begins to distinguish the colours of the objects around it. He can focus on an object, and enjoys more and more looking around. Now he can see in 3 dimensions. His eyes are more and more mobile.
As your baby is sleeping less, put him in a bouncer and take him for frequent walks so that he can discover the world. After the gurgling noises of the first two months, now the baby makes other sounds, such as bursts of laughter, in response to what he sees and hears. Enjoy him to the fullest...
